Terms of Service
These Terms govern the conditions and procedures for using the pet-record and hardcover-book service and related services (the “Service”) provided by The New Pet Times, as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and users. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms set out the basic matters regarding the use of the Service, including the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of the Company and users, and the procedures for using the Service.
Article 2 (Definitions)
- Service — the service of editing the photos and short records you provide into story pages, and producing and delivering them as a hardcover book.
- User — anyone who uses the Service under these Terms.
- Reservation — applying for the Service at the founding price by paying a deposit before the official launch.
- Deposit — an advance payment that locks in the founding price; it is later credited in full toward your purchase.
- Founding price — the price offered to users who reserve before the official launch.
- Standard price — the price that applies after the official launch.
- Content — the photos, interview answers, and records you provide to the Service, and the results edited from them.
Article 3 (Posting and Amendment of Terms)
The Company posts these Terms on the Service so users can easily review them. The Company may amend these Terms within the scope permitted by applicable law. In that case, the effective date and reason are stated, and notice is given at least 7 days before the effective date (30 days in advance for changes that are unfavorable or material to users).
If a user continues to use the Service after the effective date of the amended Terms, the user is deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms.
Article 4 (Provision and Change of Service)
The Company provides services such as photo upload, record writing, story-page editing, hardcover production, and shipping. The Company may change the content, composition, or screens of the Service for improvement, and will post such changes on the Service.
Before the official launch (expected August 2026), some features may be provided in stages, and actual production and shipping proceed according to the launch schedule.
Article 5 (Formation of the Agreement)
A service agreement is formed when a user agrees to these Terms, enters reservation/application details following the on-screen procedure, completes payment, and the Company accepts it.
The Company may decline, or later terminate, an application that falls under any of the following:
- Using another person's identity or information, or entering false information
- Providing content that infringes a third party's rights (copyright, likeness, etc.)
- Applying for a purpose that violates the law or these Terms
Article 6 (Reservation, Pricing, and Payment)
The pricing structure is as follows; specific amounts follow those shown on the Service at the time of payment.
- Deposit — paid in advance at reservation and locks in the founding price. It is later credited in full toward your purchase.
- Balance — at the official launch, you pay the founding price minus the deposit already paid.
- Standard price — applies to applications made after the official launch.
A reservation does not guarantee a specific quantity or queue position; it means locking in the founding price. Founding benefits are offered on a pre-launch / time-limited basis.
Payment is processed through the Company's designated payment providers (domestic payment in Korean won, PayPal (USD) for overseas, etc.), and overseas payments may be charged in US Dollars (USD). Conditions per payment method and currency follow the notices on the payment screen.
Article 7 (Withdrawal and Refunds)
The deposit is 100% refundable upon your request until physical production begins. If you keep your reservation, the deposit is credited in full toward your purchase.
You may withdraw your subscription under the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (Korea). However, because the hardcover is a custom-made product individually produced to your order, withdrawal may be restricted once production has begun, in accordance with the proviso of Article 17(2) of that Act. In such cases, the Company will inform you of this before production begins.
Regardless of whether production has begun, exchange or refund is available in the following cases:
- The product is defective or produced/shipped differently from the order
- The Company fails to provide the Service due to reasons attributable to the Company
Refunds are, in principle, made to the payment method you used, and may take time depending on the policies of the payment provider or card issuer.
Article 8 (Production and Shipping)
Hardcover production can proceed at a time you choose once enough records are ready, and actual production and shipping take place in sequence according to the launch schedule. Shipping regions, costs, and timelines follow the notices on the shipping screen.
In unavoidable cases such as natural disasters or printing/production circumstances, production or shipping may be delayed, and the Company will inform you of the reason and the expected schedule.
Article 9 (Content You Provide)
You represent that you hold the lawful rights (copyright, likeness, etc.) to the photos and records you upload, and that they do not infringe any third party's rights. You are responsible for any dispute arising from this.
The content you provide is used only to produce and provide your own record. The Company does not publish, share, or use it for promotion or as an example without your explicit consent, and never invents facts you did not provide as if they were real records.
Article 10 (User Obligations)
You must not:
- Steal another person's information or register false information
- Upload content that infringes a third party's copyright, likeness, or other rights
- Provide content that is unlawful or contrary to public order and morals
- Interfere with the normal operation of the Service
Article 11 (Intellectual Property)
Intellectual property rights in works created by the Company — editing, design, layout, trademarks, logos, etc. — belong to the Company. Rights to your original content, such as the photos and records you provide, belong to you.
You may not reproduce, distribute, or sell the Service's outputs commercially without the Company's prior consent.
Article 12 (Protection of Personal Data)
The Company protects your personal data in accordance with applicable law and the Privacy Policy. Specific matters such as collection, use, and retention are set out in the Privacy Policy.
Article 13 (Company's Duties and Limitation of Liability)
The Company complies with applicable law and these Terms and strives to provide a stable service. However, the Company is not liable for damage caused by reasons beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, reasons attributable to the user, or failures of third-party services (payment, shipping, etc.).
Article 14 (Restriction / Suspension of Use)
If a user violates these Terms or interferes with the normal operation of the Service, the Company may, after prior notice (or after the fact in urgent cases), restrict use of the Service or terminate the agreement.
Article 15 (Dispute Resolution and Governing Law)
Disputes relating to these Terms and use of the Service are, in principle, resolved amicably through mutual consultation between the Company and the user. If no agreement is reached, the laws of the Republic of Korea govern, and the competent court is determined under the Civil Procedure Act and other applicable laws.
